What is Incident Response?
A simple plan for what to do when something goes wrong.

Incident response is your prepared plan for handling a cybersecurity problem — a breach, ransomware, or a lost laptop — calmly and quickly.
Why it matters: in a crisis, panic and delay make things worse. A short checklist tells everyone who to call, what to switch off, and what to record.
Practical example: a staff member reports a suspected breach at 6pm. With a checklist, the manager knows to isolate the device, preserve evidence, notify the IT lead, and start a log — instead of improvising.
Getting started: a one-page checklist is enough to begin: key contacts, first containment steps, who decides, and how to record events and timings.
